【2023 Taiwan and Asia-Specific Sustainable Action Awards】
by Annie Liu and Dr. Yi-Ching Pan
In 2015, the United Nations published the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and launched the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promising actions on sustainable development by 2030.
In Taiwan, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) collaborates in global sustainability development efforts. TAISE established the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) in 2021 and the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) in 2022 to recognize organizations and individuals dedicated to advancing sustainable development and sharing our sustainable growth with the international community.
The award ceremony was held in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Expo and Summit, with attendees expected from industries, universities, and government agencies in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and other Asia-Pacific countries. The ceremony is a landmark event drawing international attention. Through this international event, guests could learn about outstanding performances and innovations related to SDGs, CSR, and USR from individuals and organizations both locally and globally.
Competing with numerous impressive projects dedicated to implementing SDG-4 (Quality Education), the SUZAKU PIONEER Project once again won the Golden Award of SDG-4 in TSAA. (Since 2022, the team has consistently won the Golden Award in SDG-4.) This year, through the development of digital teaching resources, localization of teaching lessons, response to the requirements of co-learning fields, and extensive communication efforts, SUZAKU PIONEER Projects gradually built up the co-learning model involving university teachers, pre-service teachers, and in-service teachers in remote areas. This not only provided a support system for rural teachers but also integrated resources to sustainably promote teacher development for remote areas. Winning the Golden Award again this year is a powerful recognition of the team's dedicated and persistent hard work. We are delighted to share this inspiring news, and the SUZAKU PIONEER Project will continue to strive toward its goals in rural education development.
